Cooper is widely recognized as a pioneer and inventor in the personal and wireless telecommunications industry. He led the team at Motorola in the 1970’s that developed the first handheld mobile phone. Cooper’s experience includes: co-founder and chairman of GreatCall, founder and executive chairman of ArrayCom, co-founder of Cellular Business Systems and various positions during a 29 year career at Motorola.

Cooper received a bachelor's and master's degree in electrical engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology.
